News of the desalination plant in Gaza

This is Abdeljalil Abu Ghorab, the director of the Nour al-Marifa Association in the Nurserait camp, Gaza. He returned to Gaza from his PhD studies in Beirut to struggle with his family and neighbours. He lost many friends and family members. In this video, he thanks IQFA and Islamic Relief Ireland for their help and funds for the people of Gaza, highlighting how safe drinking water has improved many lives.

Sligo street collection to fund provision of fresh drinking water in Gaza

Irish Quaker Faith in Action and Islamic Relief-Ireland have teamed up for a series of street collections this summer including in Sligo in support of the people of Gaza. Both organisations have been supporting several projects since the conflict began that has claimed more than 40,000 lives, mostly women, children and non-combatants.

Recently, however, IQFA and Islamic Relief Ireland started working together on a project in the Nuseirat Camp in central Gaza with the Nour Al Marifa Association.

Water has been found in the Nuseirat region as a result of the bombing by the Israeli Defence Forces.

Abdeljalil Abu Ghorab, the director of the Nour al Marifa Association, is looking for funds to finance a desalination plant to produce potable water that will serve central Gaza. To date, one-third of the funds required for the project have been raised. It is hoped that the remaining resources will be raised soon, as fresh drinkable water is very precious in Gaza. IQFA and Islamic Relief-Ireland will be in Sligo
