Care4Calais

In January, Nigel Bell along with a small group from Ireland spent a week in northern France working with a charity called Care4Calais supporting their relief work with refugees gathered in the area. These refugees are largely from Sudan, Syria and Afghanistan and are all looking to get to the UK via the English channel.

Their living conditions are horrendous and they receive very hostile treatment from the local police and residents. Having spent some time with Care 4 Calais I’m hugely impressed with the work they do in reaching out to these most vulnerable men and women.

Care4Calais provide clothing, footwear, food, medicine and tents from a large warehouse in Calais. They have been involved in this work for many years and have recently opened an office in the UK to help support those that make it to the UK.

IQFA helped support this organisation by providing funding for tents. Northern France is a particularly cold place through the winter months and many arrive with no accommodation or shelter – so tents are always in high demand. I thank IQFA for this support and look forward to keeping them updated on future trips to France.

Giving a little helps a lot
