Baraka Self Help Group, Kenya

The Baraka Self-Help Group in Kenya is made up of women, married and widowed, who grew up in the locality and have lived their whole lives there. They each have between 5 and 9 children.
They formed the self-help group so that they could start a savings and loaning programme to give loans to each other to help their small businesses. All of the women are involved in small-scale business and subsistence agriculture.
The group has received training from Equity Bank on saving and loan management, choosing a viable enterprise, and online marketing. They also received training from the Right Sharing of World Resources’ team on group management, conflict resolution, and income-generating activities.
IQFA is supporting them to continue with their businesses, which already up and running successfully.
